Welcome to startGBC, your gateway to entrepreneurship at George Brown College. We held our first event, Entrepreneurship Day, in November at the Career Centre, in partnership with Enactus. We heard from four Canadian entrepreneurs who all agreed on at least 3 points: entrepreneurship takes lifelong learning, including “voracious reading”, it takes a bias for action, and it takes generosity of spirit in the form of knowledge-sharing, trust-building and ongoing collaboration.
It was fascinating and perhaps counter-intuitive to hear all four businesspeople speak of these as critical success factors for entrepreneurs. They did not discount the need for a great idea, intellectual property protection, adequate financing, and many other necessary items. But they all agreed that the true entrepreneur thrives on learning, execution, and relationships.
For those who could not attend, stay tuned for information on the Why Not Me series of talks by George Brown College alumni who will share their entrepreneurial stories and journeys with us.
No matter what you are studying, Why Not Me will give you something to think about.
