
The Digital Media and Gaming Incubator will be attending the 2018 Overseas Talent Entrepreneurship Conference (OTEC) in Beijing. This event takes place August 9-12 and is an exclusive opportunity for start-ups to fast track their expansion into China and meet with an international network of investors.
The winner from this year’s IT’S A START Pitch Competition, InStage, will be representing Canada at the OTEC Global Pitch. InStage is a Toronto based startup that has developed a virtual reality training tool to help improve verbal communication skills and public speaking, They will be competing alongside 30 startups from 14 countries for a chance to win $1M RMB (~$200KCDN).
The Digital Media and Gaming Incubator has been successfully organizing the IT’S A START Pitch Competition for emerging startups over the past five years. IT’S A START is an annual pitch competition for digital startups held during Digifest, the city’s leading three-day festival on digital innovation and creativity. Ten finalists were selected to participate this April where they had five minutes to pitch in front of a panel of judges and a live audience.
The Overseas Talent Entrepreneurship Conference (OTEC) is a government-sponsored event in Beijing that aims to connect international entrepreneurs with investment and growth opportunities, and to help them launch their start-ups in China.
