The Research Innovation Commercialization Centre (RIC Centre) and GreenCentre Canada are proud to announce a joint cohort for the upcoming February 2018 Incubator term. The partnership was struck after the success of Innovation 4D, an event that connected startups with investors and venture capitalists from the public and private sectors.
Through the joint incubator program, the two organizations will aim to use its combined technical and business expertise to guide startups in the green chemistry, clean technology and advanced manufacturing industries.
GreenCentre Canada will provide support to the next Incubator cohort including concept development services, proof of concept, market analysis and product development, scale-up and launch services. Cohort companies in green chemistry sectors are eligible for these additional services through RIC’s partnership with GreenCentre Canada.
The RIC Centre Incubator program has been running since 2014 and has graduated companies such as ColdBlock Technologies, Anomera and CHAR Technologies. With two cohorts per year, incubator startups get six months as part of the program. During those six months, they have access to office space, wet labs and are connected with one of RIC Centre’s experienced Entrepreneurs-in-Residence who are able to guide them through their entrepreneurial journey.
One of RIC Centre Incubator’s first startups, CHAR Technologies also partnered closely with GreenCentre Canada to bring their biogas cleaning solution to market. Andrew White, CEO of CHAR Technologies Ltd., said, “Working with the RIC incubator and GreenCentre Canada provided access to both business and technical support to successfully launch and grow CHAR Technologies. These organizations helped me navigate financial, business development and technical resources to accelerate company growth. CHAR was one of the first companies in the RIC Incubator in 2014 and by 2016 launched on the TSX Venture under ‘YES.’“
Pam Banks, Executive Director of RIC Centre, added, “Our startups have access to a network of advisors with domain expertise across all sectors and stages of growth. Our team is incredibly proud of the successes from our graduates from strategic partnerships, investments and first sale.”
RIC Centre Incubator applications are currently open for the next cohort starting on February 1, 2018.
