Resources For Canadian Businesses

CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID-19)

Covid 19 Business Resources – City of Toronto
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the City of Toronto launched the BusinessTO Support Centre for providing information on COVID-19 Business Resources. The centre provides businesses with one-on-one virtual assistance completing applications for government programs, as well as general business advice. The City has also expanded its Digital Main Street program to help small businesses develop their websites, launch e-commerce platforms, and more.

– Business & Sector Resources
– Bills & Tax Relief
– Credit, Mortgage & Banking Support
– Employee Wage Support
– Reopening Guidelines
– COVID-19: Income Support

Other Places To Start:

  1. Visit our government’s COVID-19 Economic Response Plan website for information about supporting your employees and your business. It is constantly updated for COVID-19 business resources.
  2. Contact your local financial institution. Since we know most small businesses have a relationship with their local financial institution already, we’ve worked with the financial sector to increase their lending capability to support you in in this challenging time. They are a good first place to start for help.
  3. BusinessTO News is focused on resources to help Toronto businesses mitigate the impact of COVID-19. For a full list of COVID-19 business resources, visit toronto.ca/covid19.

CafeTO

The CaféTO program aims to provide space for expanded outdoor dining areas to help some restaurants and bars who are impacted by COVID-19. Restaurants and bars operating in Toronto must follow current public health guidelines as developed by Toronto Public Health and the Province of Ontario Opens in new window. Please visit the Province of Ontario’s website to stay informed.

Read the updated CaféTO guidebook PDF to better understand this year’s program.

Accessibility

It is the responsibility of CaféTO participants to follow the rules and ensure your café is accessible for your patrons, and that your café does not impede the ability of people using the sidewalk.

The CaféTO guidebook contains important rules that CaféTO operators must follow, such as maintain the pedestrian clearway, cane-detectability and colour contrasting of café materials.

The guidebook also has some suggestions to improve the accessibility of their outdoor dining space, including furniture choice and layout of the café. Please carefully review this section starting on page 12 of the CaféTO guidebook.

CaféTO is a part of the City’s ShowLoveTO initiative, launched in association with Founding Sponsor American Express and in partnership with Destination Toronto, to help Toronto businesses, neighbourhoods and residents safely recover and rebuild from the COVID-19 pandemic.
